PM Boyko Borissov: I hope Bulgaria would receive better offer for F-16 fighter jets

The deadline for providing additional details to the offers for new fighter jets for the Bulgarian Air Force is today. The project for new fighter jets totals 900 million euros, with Bulgaria expecting to buy as many as 8 planes.

From Brussels, Prime Minister Boyko Borisov voiced hope that Bulgaria would receive more favorable offers for new F-16 jets. "The new F-16 is considerably better than any other airplane that is being offered, and I want to have real combat machines so that our pilots know they have the chance to win in a fight," the Prime Minister said. Offers for new F-16 fighter jets have bee received from the United States, while Sweden offers new Gripen aircraft and Italy offers second-hand fighter "Eurofighter" jets.
