A film about Christo to open Sofia Film Fest this coming spring

The 23rd edition of the prestigious Sofia Film Fest, which is to take place in Sofia, March 7-17, is to open with a screening of a documentary by Andrey Paounov called “Walking on water” which takes a look at the artistic quests and the life of Christo.

“Walking on water” was first shown at the Locarno Film Festival and traces the creation of the spectacular project “The floating piers”, conceptualized by Christo and his wife Jeanne-Claude back in the 1970’s.

“The floating piers” was to become the most visited art event of 2016. Christo and Jeanne-Claude created many ambitious art projects – “The Pont Neuf wrapped”, (Paris, 1975-1985), “The wrapped Reichstag”, (Berlin, 1977-1995), “The running fence”, (California 1972-1976), “The gates” (Central Park, New York, 1979-2005), “The umbrellas” (Japan-USA, 1984-1991), “The London Mastaba, (2016-2018).
