One in three pensioners in Bulgaria is at risk of poverty, data of Eurostat about 2017 show. Bulgaria places 4th in the EU under this indicator. The French pensioners are at lowest risk of poverty (7% risk of poverty rate). In 2017 the proportion of pensioners at risk of poverty in the European Union was estimated at 14.2%. The rate has been rising gradually since 2013 when it was 12.6%.
