Sofia will ask the European Commission to change the question about gender identity in a questionnaire used in 20 countries of the community, said Education Minister Krasimir Valchev.

The EC tool SELFIE (Self-reflection on Effective Learning by Fostering the use of Innovative Educational Technologies) on the digitization of education is filled in by 9-year old students in 900 schools in Bulgaria.

The questionnaire ends with a question about gender identity, with answers  - boy, girl, and other. Minister Valchev stated he did not support the “preaching of gender ideology in schools – as a minister or as a parent.”
