President Rumen Radev, who is paying an official visit to Switzerland, discussed, with his Swiss counterpart Ueli Maurer, cooperation between Sofia and Bern in the sphere of the economy, investments, security and migration.
The two heads of state agreed to work towards extending the Bulgarian-Swiss Cooperation Programme beyond 2019. Under the programme, launched in 2010, Bulgaria has received 72 million CHF.
“The programme is valuable to us for the financial support, but also for the expertise it brings in spheres like security, supremacy of law, stability of reforms, the fight against organized crime, terrorism and corruption, social integration and education,” said President Radev.
The Bulgarian side stated its desire to see the establishment of a Swiss-Bulgarian innovation centre.
