Bulgaria’s government increases funding contribution to Bulgarian American Commission for Educational Exchange FULBRIGHT

Bulgaria’s government adopted a resolution to allot more money to the Bulgarian American Commission for Educational Exchange FULBRIGHT. The educational exchange between Bulgaria and the USA began in 1967. In 1993 the Bulgarian American Commission for Educational Exchange was officially established following a bilateral agreement between the governments of Bulgaria and the USA. The programme is financed by the two countries. The US Congress allots nearly USD 600,000 each year. The money allotted by the Bulgarian government increased from USD 40,000 to USD 140,000 per year. A total of 1,316 people received grants between 1967 and 2018. 594 Bulgarians and 722 US citizens received Fulbright stipends in that period.
