In the past year trade between Bulgaria and Russia has marked a significant improvement and this is due to intensified contacts, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said in Sofia after a meeting with Bulgarian PM Boyko Borissov. It has become clear that the Russian Federation had large projects in Bulgaria and would continue bilateral cooperation in the spheres of economy, energy and tourism.

Prime Minister Borissov announced that the launch of a new ferry from Burgas to Novorossiysk was also being discussed. In relation to the sphere of energy, Borissov expressed confidence that Bulgaria would continue to be a participant in gas transmission through the region thanks to the creation of a gas hub, as plans of it have been coordinated with the EU. Plenary talks at the level of government delegations with the participation of Deputy Prime Ministers and Ministers have also started.
