Gazprom not planning to participate in Balkan Gas Hub project

The Russian energy holding Gazprom is not planning to participate in the Balkan Gas Hub project on Bulgarian territory, Gazprom’s CEO Alexey Miller stated, quoted by TASS agency. The Balkan gas hub has been in the EU list of projects of common interest since 2015. It is expected to receive and distribute gas to Bulgaria’s neighbors via interconnectors. Meanwhile, Bulgaria’s Deputy Premier Tomislav Donchev said in a TV interview that Bulgaria’s top priority is to become open to all sources of gas supplies. In this context, Bulgaria has started a series of procedures aimed at expanding its gas transferring network and making new investments, in order to continue transiting natural gas in accordance with the EU legislation, Deputy Premier Donchev specified.
