Space dedicated to Bulgarian statesman Atanas Burov /1875 - 1954/ was inaugurated in the European Parliament in Brussels.

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, EP President Antonio Tajani, Manfred Weber, chair of the EPP group in the European Parliament and MEP Andrey Kovatchev unveiled a bronze bust and a marble tablet commemorating Atanas Burov.

Antonio Tajani described Burov as a key Bulgarian political figure with a leading role in asserting the country in the region.

“Burov was the first to perceive that the future of Bulgaria is in Europe. He knew that our geostrategic location is such that we have to maintain good pragmatic relations with the great power Russia as well, but our umbilical cord has to be Europe – as it is today,” Boyko Borissov said.
