The Prime Ministers of Bulgaria and Romania Boyko Borissov and Viorica Dăncilă have reached agreement that the two countries are ready to break ground next week for the third bridge between Bulgaria and Romania over the Danube.

The bridge will be between Svishtov in Bulgaria and Zimnicea in Romania, said Boyko Borissov in Dubrovnik at the 16+1 meeting.

Minister of Transport Rosen Zhelyazkov stated in parliament that European funding can only be used for building a new bridge at Russe-Giurgiu because the connection is part of the trans-European transport network. Bridges at Oryahovo- Bechet, Nikopol-Turnu Măgurele, Svishtov-Zimnicea or Silistra-Călărași can be built on money from the budget or money from public-private partnerships, Minister Zhelyazkov said.
