Bulgaria marks Saint George’s Day on May 6

On May 6 the Bulgarian Orthodox Church honors the memory of Saint George the Victorious, a Martyr of Christ’s Faith in Eastern Orthodox Church. People call the feast Gergyovden and mark the day with various rituals. May 6 is official holiday in the Republic of Bulgaria and is also celebrated as the Bravery Day and the Day of the Bulgarian Army.
