Architects from 6 countries competing for renovation of "St. Nedelya" Square downtown Sofia

A total of 14 teams of architects from Bulgaria, Italy, France, Romania, Russia and Turkey have applied for the international contest for renovation of St. Nedelya square in the historical center of Sofia. Most of them are conceptual projects by Bulgarian and Italian teams. In the first stage teams presented their professional experience. On June 21, the jury will select 7 concepts and invite their authors to develop elaborate projects. The Sofia Municipality will invite the winner to implement the award-winning project. The task is to preserve the historical character of the space, creating a connection between pedestrian zones, contemporary urban design, accessible environment and economic expediency.
