Elections for European Parliament taking place in Bulgaria today

Today, 26 May elections for European Parliament are being held in Bulgaria.

A total of 318 candidates nominated by 13 parties, 8 coalitions and 6 initiative committees are vying for the 17 seats in European Parliament Bulgaria is entitled to. For the first time machine voting will be available at 3,000 polling stations across the country.

Voting begins at 7 AM and ends at 8 PM local time, but at the discretion of the Central Election Commission, voting may be extended by one hour.

191 polling stations in 64 countries have been opened abroad, the biggest number being in the countries members of the EU, in the UK – 24, in Spain – 16, in Germany – 24, in Greece – 13 and in France – 10.
