President Rumen Radev opened, in Sofia, a round table to discuss the upcoming election of a new prosecutor general – criteria and public expectations.

The Bulgarian head of state pointed out that it is important for the new prosecutor general to have a high level of public trust at the beginning of his term of office, and that is why it is essential that the procedure of his election be transparent and that it follow clear criteria in accordance with the law.

The round table, to which NGOs whose activities are connected with the legal system as well as professional legal organizations were invited, comes after a series of discussions President Radev has already held on the subject with representatives of the executive and the judiciary.
