A vote today would select the European nomination for head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Nominations of Portugal's Finance Minister Mário Centeno, who heads the Eurogroup and of Spanish Economy Minister Nadia Calviño, as well as the nomination of former EU Commissioner Olli Rehn, have been gradually cut from the shortlist. Later today, EU member states have to choose their single candidacy for IMF chief selecting between former Dutch Finance Minister Jeroem Dijsselbloem and Bulgaria's Kristalina Georgieva - World Bank Chief Executive. The position of managing director of the International Monetary Fund has been vacated after Christine Lagarde was appointed to head the European Central Bank.
