The detected case of anthrax in North Macedonia is not a threat to Bulgaria. According to the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency, anthrax is a disease typical of our region and is not among the group of human-to-human and animal-to-animal transmitted diseases. The disease is caused by a bacillus that the animals absorb with their fodder. Anthrax is also periodically found in Bulgaria - almost every year, but it does not develop as an epidemic and does not spread to large territories. In all cases of doubt, livestock farmers should inform their veterinarian and take the necessary measures, the Food Safety Agency informs.
