Bulgaria insists that North Macedonia and Albania join EU en bloc

Photo: БТА

The Bulgarian cabinet has approved a proposal which reads that the EU should start accession negotiations with North Macedonia and Albania. This country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva specified that Sofia will insist that the two countries become EU members en bloc, because the separation of North Macedonia and Albania in the accession process may lead to instability in the region. Minister Zaharieva noted that Bulgaria has always supported the North-Atlantic and EU integration of the Western Balkan countries, provided they meet certain requirements.
