Big forest fire on border with Serbia has been put off

The fire at the border with Serbia has been extinguished by efforts of more than 150 firefighters, foresters, volunteers, military and helicopters. Head of the Directorate General Fire Safety, Commissioner Nikolay Nikolov, said that for 3 days the fire covered about 52 square kilometers on the Bulgarian side along the ridge of Stara Planina. On the Serbian side, where the disaster affected an area two times bigger, the fire has been contained, but not completely extinguished. The State Forestry in Chiprovtsi stated that no forest territories were affected in Bulgaria.
