The first group part of the 28th consecutive Bulgarian expedition headed by Prof. Hristo Pimpirev left for Antarctica. This year 30 people take part in the expedition on the icy continent, including foreign scientists. The first group consists of 11 people who will prepare the base. A new laboratory will be built, too. President Rumen Radev has handed over to the expedition a new national flag that will be placed on top of the base. Antarctica - apart from science, is also part of the foreign policy, Pimpirev said, inviting Bulgarian politicians to visit the base, which operates under a special international legal regime.
