Mariya Gabriel’s portfolio to include Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth

Ursula von der Leyen, President-elect of the European Commission stated, at the hearing at the European Parliament, that the portfolio of Mariya Gabriel is to be renamed Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth.

Initially, Gabriel was to be European Commissioner for innovation and youth.

“Culture and education are what link our history with our future. This is what makes us unique. Our soul, our culture, our diversity, our heritage. And I know that with Mariya Gabriel it is in safe hands,” Ursula von der Leyen said.
