Engines of Bulgarian MiG-29 jet fighters to be replaced and life of aircraft extended

The government has allocated more than 8 million euros to replace the engines of eight MiG-29 jet fighters of the Bulgarian Air Force and extend their life span until the order for delivery of the new US F-16 fighter jets is completed. This creates the necessary conditions for the Air Force to maintain aviation control capabilities and guarantee effective Air Policing, as well as the implementation of NATO's collective defense mechanisms and the EU's common security and defense policy. The necessary funds for the implementation of the project are planned expenses in the central budget for 2019, the message reads.
