1/3 of Bulgarian families find it difficult to pay their bills

Every third household in Bulgaria has difficulty in paying utility bills. Based on this indicator, Bulgaria is in the last place in the EU. In Greece alone, 36% of households have this problem. Croatia and Romania are ahead of Bulgaria, with 17 and 14% of households experiencing difficulties, respectively. In the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Sweden and Austria, only 2% of families are late in payments. The EU average in 2018 was 7 percent. Among Bulgarian households, those with young children or 34.4% have more problems with paying their bills than households without children or grown-up children 26.6%, according to Eurostat. For families with 3 or more children more than half - 53.3% fail to pay their bills on time.
