Young Bulgarian doctor from Sofia distinguished for practical application of 3D technologies

The Medial University Sofia awarded a young doctor who created a 3D printer for joint implants. The innovator Vanyo Vezirev received the prize during the graduation ceremony of the 2019 graduates. Currently, the 3D printer makes anatomic models for educational purposes and surgical models with parts of the body containing the disease itself allowing doctors to make pre-surgical experiments, the young doctor explains and added that soon a knee surgery of a dog will be made. Doctor Vanyo Vezirev believes that within the next 36 months he will start making bone implants for people as well. This endeavor requires a lot of financing and permits. So far, we have received funding from the European Institute for Innovations and Strategic Analysis, but we need more money, doctor Vezirev says.
