Bulgaria will work towards an even closer cooperation with Belarus in the sphere of the economy, tourism and education, said President Rumen Radev, at a meeting, in Sofia, with the Foreign Minister of Belarus Vladimir Makei.

In the words of the Bulgarian President, extending Belarus’ partnership with the EU offers excellent additional opportunities for cooperation between the two countries. Information technologies, electronics, agriculture, repair of defence equipment are also promising spheres of mutual interest.

Later Vladimir Makei met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva who reaffirmed that Bulgaria will support Belarus in its efforts to forge closer relations with the EU. She added that Bulgaria is ready to render expert assistance to Belarus in its progress towards reforms in the sphere of human rights, democracy and supremacy of law.

This is the first official visit to Bulgaria by a foreign minister of Belarus since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
