Incomes up by 13.7, expenditures – by 10.7 percent over last quarter of 2019

The incomes of Bulgarian households have gone up in the last quarter of 2019 at a rate slightly higher than the rise in expenditure, indicate National Statistical Institute data.

The total income per household member for the October-December period amounted to EUR 905, an increase of 13.7 percent compared to the same quarter of 2018. At the same time total spending went up by 10.7 percent to reach EUR 854. The highest share of incomes comes from salaries – 56.2 percent followed by pensions – 27.3 percent and self-employment income – 6.4 percent. The biggest share of expenditures is for food – 30 percent, followed by housing costs – 17.2 percent, taxes and social security contributions – 12.9 percent, and transport and communications – 11.5 percent.
