The latest concert of the Big Band Jazz Academy – one of the recent projects by the Big Band of the Bulgarian National Radio, launched in January, 2019 - is at 7 PM tonight in the BNR’s concert studio, Studio No. 1.

Jazz Academy has a mission to discover young talent among up-and-coming musicians and offer them opportunities to perform. But also the chance of becoming soloists of the prestigious radio orchestra with conductor Antoni Donchev. A mission it has been fulfilling successfully.

This time the focus is on the group SoulBmoll which released its first album of 10 original songs in May, 2019. At tonight’s concert the young musicians will present songs from their debut album arranged for big band.

One of SoulBmoll’s songs – Stopping time – was among the finalists at the 50th jubilee edition of the BNR competition for new Bulgarian songs “Spring 2019”. At the beginning of last year the group received a statuette at the BNR Top 20 annual awards for one of the most successful singles in the chart. The group’s mentor, Velislav Stoyanov – a virtuoso trombone player and composer, one of the most talented and sought-after musicians in Bulgaria – will be conductor of the concert tonight.
