At a meeting in Sofia with European Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson, PM Boyko Borissov stated that migration pressure towards Bulgaria is down compared to 2019.

This is due to the measures taken at a national level, as well as to the relations of good  neighbourhood with neighouring third countries, particularly Turkey. Boyko Borissov welcomed the visits Commissioner Johansson is paying to the countries of the EU to find out what attitudes are towards the new pact on immigration and asylum. In this respect Bulgaria is in favour of a balance between responsibility and solidarity, national specifics being taken into account. Each country must guarantee its own security in a way that guarantees the security of the entire European Union, but the EU must also guarantee its security in a way that will guarantee the security of the countries located at the fore-front, the Bulgarian PM said.
