Bulgaria will not host World Ice Hockey under-18 Championship over coronavirus danger

The Bulgarian Ice Hockey Federation announced that it will not organize the World Ice Hockey under-18 Championship in division II, group B which should have been taken place in Sofia 23-29 March.

The federation is taking the advice of the Council of Ministers coronavirus crisis headquarters that all mass outdoor events should be cancelled. To begin with the championship was supposed to take place in Tianjin, China but was moved precisely because of the coronavirus danger. Bulgaria proposed and was approved as hosting country by the international federation.

Besides the teams of Bulgaria and China, teams from Australia, Croatia, the Netherlands and Spain were also supposed to take part in the event.
