Our generations are called upon to uphold democracy, the democracy we had dreamed of, the democracy we walked towards in the not too distant past. Freedom is the strongest immunity against any kind of political virus,” said President Rumen Radev in his speech during the firework display and solemn roll call ceremony in the centre of Sofia on the occasion of Bulgaria’s national day, 3 March, day of liberation from Ottoman rule.

In these troubled times we are living in, when boundaries are being trampled underfoot, it is important that we, Bulgarian politicians, all of us, keep vigil over the sovereignty of our country. That all Bulgarians be aware of the strength we possess, that we live up to all those whom we commemorate on days like today, Rumen Radev said.
