Bulgaria suspends international train services

All international train services through Bulgaria will be suspended as of March 17 due to the measures against the new coronavirus, the Bulgarian State Railways announced. The train services Sofia-Belgrade, Vidin-Craiova, Sofia-Thessaloniki, Sofia-Bucharest and Sofia-Istanbul will be suspended. Clients of Bulgarian State Railways can receive up to date information at the railway stations or on the official page of the company: http://live.bdz.bg/, as well as on the national phone line 0700 10 200. At the moment we are not planning to send planes to take Bulgarian citizens back to our country, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Petko Doykov said. Deputy Minister Doykov called on the Bulgarians to avoid travelling abroad. He also called on the Bulgarian nationals living abroad to stay in their country of residence.
