Bulgaria's Interior ministry is currently handling the situation well and does not need assistance from the country's armed forcedInterior Minister Mladen Marinov said in an interview with the Bulgarian National Television. This will be necessary when the resources of the Interior Ministry get exhausted, Minister Marinov added.
The compliance with the 14-day quarantine is monitored by the Ministry of Interior, there are currently over 100 pre-trial proceedings initiated. The penalties for violating the quarantine are up to 5 years imprisonment and a fine of up to EUR 25,565 (BGN 50 000).
There have been no attempts by refugees to cross the Bulgarian border during the past 24 hours, Minister Marinov also said. The more stringent security measures have also led to a decline in domestic crime, with no vehicles having been stolen for the past 24 hours on the territory of the country.
