The Bulgarian Veterinary Union sent a letter to Premier Boyko Borissov demanding the resignations of the Director of the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency Paskal Zheliazkov and of Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry responsible for animal breeding, animal health and policies in the agro-food chain Yanko Ivanov. According to the Bulgarian veterinarians, the policy of the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency leads to the destruction of the veterinary profession in the productive animals segment. The veterinarians alarm about systematic delays in the delivery of vaccines and bio products. As a result, a large number of animals are not vaccinated, the veterinarians contend. Vaccines are delivered in time and the delays are only due to contested tenders, Paskal Zheliazkov said in return.
