There is no change in the position of the European Commission regarding Bulgaria and all of its commitments under the Mechanism for Cooperation and Verification, Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva wrote in her official profile on social media. Her words were occasioned by speculations that the EU’s monitoring mechanism of Bulgaria is still operating.

The European Commission adopted its latest report on the fulfillment of the commitments Bulgaria has assumed in the sphere of reform in the judicial system, the fight against corruption and organized crime. The report says that the progress is sufficient for fulfilling the commitments assumed at the time of accession to the EU. The future Rule of Law Mechanism will monitor the fight against corruption, media freedom and judicial systems in all member countries, Ekaterina Zaharieva points out.
