Bulgaria’s Deputy Minister of Environment and Water Krasimir Zhivkov and five other persons were detained for participation in an alleged organized crime group, Prosecutor General’s Spokesperson Siyka Mileva announced. Over 40 buildings in Sofia, Botevgrad, Pravets, Pleven, Plovdiv, Montana, Smolyan, Ruse and villages near the town of Kyustendil were raided in a large-scale operation. Offices of brothers Plamen Bobokov and Atanas Bobokov, who own Prista Oil Company, were searched. The two businessmen also own a waste storage site. We have collected a lot of written evidence that Zhivkov assisted in the illegal import of waste, mainly from Italy, Siyka Mileva said further.
