Bulgaria’s Prosecutor-General Ivan Geshev says that the reason for accused banker Tsvetan Vassilev to be able to hide in Belgrade was political.
Mr. Geshev believes that the decision for extradition belonged to Serbia, just like the decision for extradition of businessman Vasil Bozhkov belonged to the United Arab Emirates.
The Prosecutor General said that the judiciary had done its job in both cases, and from now on Bulgarian diplomacy and the government were on the move. According to Geshev, Tsvetan Vassilev and Vasil Bozhkov had a common interest in a weak state and weak prosecutor's office, so that they could steal with impunity. He added that it was normal for both of them to support fake news that the Bulgarian Prosecutor's Office had not done its job properly and that was why they were hiding.
