The Bulgarian National Assembly has changed the conditions under which tour operators could receive assistance for charter flights with foreign tourists. This happened with amendments to the Law on the Bulgarian Red Cross adopted at second reading.

The subsidy of 35 euros per seat, introduced because of the pandemic will be available to tour operators who use air operators without Bulgarian license, without the need to prove the lack of interest from Bulgarian carriers.

"In essence, this means additional costs to the state budget, but it is not clear how much, what the effect would be, or where the money would go," said Krum Zarkov of the opposition BSP. The text was adopted with 74 votes in favor, 0 against and 1 abstention.
