The archaeological summer in Perperikon began with the discovery of a monumental Episcopal complex. The site dates back to the 5th- 6th century AD and is located on the Southern slope of the holy stone city of the Thracians. We have already discovered the first finds, the head of the archaeological expedition Professor Nikolay Ovcharov announced. The Episcopal palace is expected to be fully uncovered in the coming months. So far, parts of rooms and huge blocks of the walls of the former Episcopal residence were found. According to Professor Ovcharov, this would shape the monumental structure which will compete with similar structures in Europe.
