One of the greatest Bulgarian weightlifters dies in car accident in USA

One of the greatest Bulgarian weightlifters Antonio Krastev died in car accident in Minnesota at the age of 58. Krastev is a two-time World Weightlifting Champion (in Södertälje in 1985 and in Sofia in 1986) and a two-time European Weightlifting Champion (Karl-Marx-Stadt in 1986 and Reims in 1987).

 He also has three silver medals at European Weightlifting Championships and a silver medal at World Weightlifting Championships. In 1987 he broke the world record in the clean and jerk event in the 110 kilogram category. During the World Weightlifting Championships in Ostrava held on September 13, 1987, he lifted 216 kilograms in the clean and jerk event. His record remains unbeaten for almost 30 years.
