Bulgaria’s Minister of Energy Temenuzhka Petkova held an extraordinary briefing on Saturday. “The news that Premier Borissov agreed to close Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant at the last meeting of the European Council is manipulation and fake news”, Minister Petkova said. Temenuzhka Petkova specified that the EU is allocating EUR 56 million to Bulgaria to decommission units 1, 2, 3 and 4 of Kozloduy NPP. Minister Petkova reminded that the last two cabinets headed by Premier Borissov have negotiated to extend the lifespan of units 5 and 6 of Kozloduy NPP by another 30 years “to ensure Bulgaria’s energy security for the decades to come”.
