“The increase in money is more of an election campaign measure, than it is an anti-crisis measure,” said healthcare economics consultant Arkadi Sharkov for the BNR, commenting on the additional funding for healthcare – more than 250 million leva (over EUR 125 million).
Arkadi Sharkov, who represents an expert club for economics and politics, stressed that “half of this money comes from our pockets – from the National Health Insurance Fund. The other half is European taxpayers’ money.”
In his words ways to increase the funding for the health system have existed before but are only being made use of now in view of the change in the political situation.
He added that tension is now brewing among medical specialists on the question of who is “in front of” and who is “behind” the s-called front line.
