Disposal of bulk quantities of pesticides, which are in critical condition, has started on the territory of the whole of Bulgaria. This was stated by the Minister of Environment and Water Emil Dimitrov during an inspection of such a site in Pleven district, specified on the website of the ministry.
Some of these storage facilities of pesticides are located close to water sources, they pollute nature, are unguarded and have easy access for people who may misuse them, Dimitrov said. According to the minister, the pesticides date back to the 1960s and 1970s.
The Environment Minister stated that not a single kilogram of pesticides would be destroyed in Bulgaria. This will be done in incinerators in Europe - France, Belgium, Switzerland, Denmark.
