Trend: Protests will not lead to radical change

Many people support the anti-government protests in this country, even though they stay at home. But we should not imagine that the protests will create huge political energy that would overwhelm the whole system. This is the opinion of political scientist from the Trend research center, Dimitar Ganev, expressed in an interview with BNR. The energy of the protest will add votes to parties like "There Are Such People" of showman Slavi Trifonov and "Democratic Bulgaria", but the change in the parliament will not be radical. The problem is the lack of a strong alternative to the current government, which has contributed to the long stay of Boyko Borissov in power.
According to the political scientist, social tensions will increase in the winter, when people will face the serious consequences of Covid-19. The scale of the crisis will be greater than that of the global crisis in 2008-2009, Ganev said.
