Antigovernment protests continue in Bulgaria for the 36th consecutive day with blockades of key intersections in Sofia. The intersections in front of the Sofia University, on Eagles’ Bridge and the space locked between the Presidency building and the Council of Ministers building remain blocked.

Protesters are gathering in front of the National Assembly building where an extraordinary sitting is expected to be held today at the demand of the Bulgarian Socialist Party. The MPs are expected to hear Premier Boyko Borissov and discuss the amendment of the state budget due to the social and economic measures adopted to overcome the consequences of the Covid-19 crisis.

Protesters are demanding the resignation of Premier Boyko Borissov and of Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev and call for machine voting.

Traffic will be interrupted tonight on central roads and avenues in Bulgaria’s second largest city of Plovdiv due to ongoing antigovernment protests. 19 lines of the Plovdiv public transport will run with changed routes, BNR Plovdiv informs.
