“The Summer Ball” in Bardarski Geran shows traditions of Banat Bulgarians

The village of Bardarski Geran located in Northwestern Bulgaria is regarded as the capital of Banat Bulgarians in Bulgaria. This small Catholic community is distinguished by its way of life and traditions that has been zealously preserved over many generations. Farshangi carnival held at the end of the winter and the Summer Ball are the most long-awaited holidays in the village.

This year the “Summer Ball” is held on August 29 with the participation of Banat Bulgarians from Bulgaria and abroad. Hundreds of guests wishing to get acquainted with the rich cultural heritage of the small Catholic community are expected to attend the event in Bardarski Geran. The holiday culminates on Saturday evening when all participants dressed in traditional Banat costumes will gather on the village square. They will perform Banat songs and dances. Good mood is guaranteed!


“The Summer Ball” in Bardarski Geran is organized each year at the end of August. Dressed in their traditional folk costumes for several hours, the representatives of the Banat community in Bulgaria share the beauty of their folklore and values inherited by their ancestors.
