Lobbyists are trying to hinder project for construction of new patrol ships: minister

The modernization of 40 T-72 tanks is to begin by the end of 2020, Bulgaria’s Minister of Defense Krasimir Karakachanov said in the coastal city of Varna. The tanks will be modernized in Bulgaria, BTA informs.

The first two Su-25 fighter jets repaired in Belarus are expected to arrive within several days, Minister Karakachanov said and added that in the beginning of October, a Bulgarian delegation is to visit the US factory where the F-16 fighter aircraft is manufactured. The implementation of the project for acquisition of F-16 fighter jets is on schedule.

"Some lobbies in Bulgaria are trying to hinder the project", Minister Karakachanov said with regard to the construction of two new patrol ships for the Bulgarian navy. One of the companies participating in the tender has challenged the results in court.
