Addresses by President and Prime Minister on Independence Day

The Declaration of Independence is one of the brightest triumphs of Bulgarian statehood. A rare moment in which citizens and rulers managed to "think alike and strive for one thing" in the name of the well-being of the Motherland, President Rumen Radev wrote on his Facebook page. Today, let all of us, citizens and politicians, realize our own historical role and take our destiny into our own hands again, the head of state writes.

I will not get tired of saying that the Bulgarian people are peaceful, that success is achieved through dialogue, not confrontation, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov wrote in Facebook. Division never was and will not be a successful formula in politics, and the events that took place 112 years ago prove it. The lessons remain for both society and politicians, PM Borissov added.
