Day of Bulgarian Independence celebrated across the country

The Bulgarian flag has been raised with a military ritual above the Tsarevets Fortress in Veliko Tarnovo on the occasion of 112 years of Bulgarian Independence. A festive liturgy was served in the church "Sts. Forty Martyrs”, where Bulgaria’s Independence was declared. The battle flags were sanctified. Traditionally, the manifesto which Tsar Ferdinand read on September 22, 1908, was solemnly read again.

Church services, military ceremonies for raising the national flag, laying wreaths and flowers in front of the monuments to the heroes who died for freedom and independence, have been taking place all over the country. Ceremonial military fireworks display for the holiday is scheduled for 19.30 on Tsar Asen I Square in front of the Tsarevets Fortress.
