Bulgaria’s National Assembly has approved at first reading the adoption of a single procedure for residence and work on the territory of Bulgaria of third-country nationals. Meanwhile, the draft of VMRO party which envisaged that Bulgaria issues electronic visas, in order to attract more foreign tourists, has been rejected by the MPs.

The Bulgarian Socialist Party refused to support the changes that remove the obligation of employers to offer a job first to a Bulgarian national.

Following the amendments, the application for single residence and work permit will be done at Migration Directorate at the Ministry of the Interior and applications will not be submitted to the National Employment Agency at the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy.
