A speed climbing event to Kopitoto locality in Vitosha Mountain near Sofia takes place today along the favorite trail of Bulgaria’s great mountaineer Boyan Petrov. Due to the coronavirus epidemic, competitors do not start at the same time and they can choose at what time to join the speed climb.

The event is dedicated to Boyan Petrov’s ascent to Kangchenjunga (8586 meters). On May 20, 2014, he became the first Bulgarian to climb the third-tallest mount on the planet. Two months later, Boyan climbed Broad Peak and only eight days later he climbed K2. For his great success he was greeted in a video message by the legend of alpinism Reinhold Messner.

In the spring of 2018, Boyan Petrov remained forever in the embrace of the mountain on his way to another eight-thousander- Shisha Pangma.
