New cases of Covid-19 in Bulgaria are 182

In the past 24 hours, 182 new cases of Covid-19 have been registered in Bulgaria. Out of the 2,843 PCR tests performed, 6.4% were positive. There are 54 patients in intensive care wards of hospitals. 45 people recovered in the past 24 hours and three patients with Covid-19 passed away.

Bulgaria ranks 25th in terms of coronavirus infection per 100,000 people

In an interview with bTV, Savina Stoitsova, an epidemiologist at the National Center for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases, said that 37 out of every 100,000 people in this country are infected. According to her, there are also areas where carriers of the coronavirus are 60 per 100,000. It all depends on compliance with anti-epidemic measures and whether there would be events where many people gather in small spaces. Therefore, wearing masks now makes sense and the measures in schools are correct, according to the epidemiologist.

Bulgaria has fiscal buffers

Fiscal buffers allow Bulgaria to go through the crisis, Radosvet Radev, chairman of the Bulgarian Industrial Association (BIA), has told BNR. According to him, this would probably be reflected in the budget for 2021. He also said that any measure in support of business was welcome and that the only successful one in this country was the one for micro and small enterprises. According to him, after the beginning of the coronavirus crisis about 300 million euros have been invested as anti-crisis measures. Radosvet Radev agreed with IMF President Kristalina Georgieva that countries taking care to preserve their economies would be the big winners after the end of the coronavirus crisis.

Another 230 million euros to go for health care

In the new 2021 budget another 230 million euros are earmarked for healthcare, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said in Gabrovo. He added it was important for the number of people infected with Covid-19 to stop rising and called on mayors to continue taking necessary measures. Borissov has recalled that salaries of social workers who have more work due to the pandemic have been raised by 30%. Regarding the protests, Borissov commented that if citizens could express their dissatisfaction, then democracy existed.
